Our property development business, Renprop, was established to use marginal farmland on CBL’s Renishaw farm for the development of industrial, commercial and residential property.
Of the total farm size of approximately 1 400 ha on the coast between Scottburgh and Umkomaas in KwaZulu-Natal, 1 308 ha has been approved for rezoning, with 266 ha compromising developable land, the balance consisting of wetlands and coastal forests. The long-term project, being marketed under the Renishaw Coastal Precinct brand, is made up of five different development zones comprising a mixture of commercial, residential, and light industrial sites.
In April 2016 we started the development of the Renishaw Hills mature lifestyle village. Renishaw Hills, already occupied by about 350 residents living in 210 units, was the first development to be built on one of the Renishaw Coastal Precinct’s five interconnected nodes. Once fully developed, Renishaw Hills will have more than 500 units.
Renishaw Hills takes up only 28 of the 266 ha developable land available, giving an indication of the total extent of the project. The balance of the land is earmarked for a combination of commercial, industrial and residential development.
The multi-billion-rand Renishaw Coastal Precinct property development is now entering its next phase, with a soon-to-be constructed shopping centre and filling station as well as plans for a private school and church.
